This design portrays the disconnect between us and the environment through the function of jackets and other clothing. Both tents and jackets are designed to serve the purpose of protection from the environment, and yet harm it through their production. At music festivals thousands of tents are used once and are then left behind to then ultimately end up in landfill which draws a parallel to the already prevalent issues of overconsumption in the fashion industry.

This convertible tent piece is my proposed solution to this disconnect, as it protects us from the environment whilst simultaneously protecting the environment from us through re-using and recycling materials - in this case, repurposing an old tent that would otherwise contribute to landfill. The completely adaptable design was an attempt to maximise utility: by incorporating different adjustments it enables the clothing to transform into a jacket, trousers, leg warmers and shorts.
